Melbourne Psychedelic Research Seminar and Dinner

Together with The Psychedelic Inquirer, Students for Sensible Drug Policy Australia and PRISM (Psychedelic Research In Science Medicine) we are helping to raise awareness and funds to make psychedelic therapy a legal treatment within Australia and worldwide.
The Melbourne scientific and psychedelic communities will be brought together to help the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) and the Australia-based, Psychedelic Research in Science and Medicine (PRISM) raise funds for research into MDMA-assisted psychotherapy to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
EVENT
The night will consist of a seminar series from Australian experts in the field of psychedelic research. Guests will have the opportunity to dine and chat with speakers, researchers, clinicians and other guests interested in psychedelic science.
The dinner will be held at the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, University of Melbourne. Australia’s leading neuroscience research institute.
SPEAKERS
- Dr. Olivia Carter (School of Psychology, The University of Melbourne)
During Dr. Carter’s PhD she conducted a series of experiments in Switzerland looking at the effects of psilocybin (active ingredient of ‘magic mushrooms’) on healthy volunteers. Olivia now works as a ARC Future Fellow and Senior lecturer at the University of Melbourne in the School of Psychological Sciences.
- Dr. Martin Williams (Monash University, President of PRISM)
Martin Williams is a post-doctoral research associate in Medicinal Chemistry at the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and one of the founding members of Psychedelic Research In Science & Medicine, Inc. (PRISM)
- Dr. Stephen Bright (Clinical Psychologist specialising in alcohol and other drugs)
Stephen is a clinically-trained psychologist, who has worked within the Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) field for the past 12 years. Stephen is a leading Australian voice on emergent drug trends, including Novel Psychoactive Substances and deep web market places.
- Steve McDonald (Secretary of PRISM)
Steve is futurist with a keen interest in psychedelics as medicines. He has a background in emergency response as a former rescue helicopter pilot, army officer and war veteran. He is a passionate advocate for the use of MDMA to treat PTSD.

This is a ticketed fundraiser seminar and dinner. Any additional donations are welcomed. Every $50USD received can be used to buy one dose of medical grade MDMA. All funds received will be split between MAPS & PRISM.

For the entire month of April 2016, the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) are running a global fundraiser “Global Psychedelic Dinners to fund the final phase 3 trials of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Phase 3 involves the training of 200 specialist therapists to carry out therapeutic MDMA sessions and the purchase of a 1kg of medical grade MDMA. It is the final step before MDMA assisted psychotherapy will be approved by the FDA as a medical treatment.
PRISM (Psychedelic Research In Science and Medicine) is Australia’s own psychedelic research organisation and plans to establish a local proof-of-concept study to raise awareness of the potential of MDMA-therapy to treat PTSD. PRISM is also active in the areas of harm reduction and evidence-based drug-law reform.
